How to Block Bad Programmatic Ads

Bad programmatic ad creatives happen because automated ad systems buy and serve ads in real time from many different networks, some of which have inconsistent quality control. Dynamic ad generation, human oversight limitations, and occasional fraudulent or misleading ads can result in low-quality, inappropriate, or broken creatives appearing. Blocking rules and monitoring are essential to prevent these ads from affecting your campaigns.

Blocking Control

You can block unwanted ad creatives by specifying the Ad Domain and Creative ID.

These details can be found using the BiddingStack Chrome plugin or traffic inspect tool on mobile devices.

Follow these steps to block unwanted programmatic ads in your dashboard:

Steps

  1. Access the Blocking Control Section

    • Go to your Dashboard.
    • Navigate to Campaigns.
    • Click on the Blocking Control section.
  2. Create Blocking Rules

    • Click Create Blocking Rule.
    • Select Project: Choose the project you want to apply the rule to.
    • Select Bidder: Choose the bidder you want to block ads from.
    • Enter Ad Details:
      • Ad Domain: Specify the ad domain of the ad you want to block.
      • Creative ID: Enter the specific creative ID to block.
  3. Save Your Rule

    • Review the details.
    • Click Save to apply the blocking rule.

Once saved, the selected ads will be blocked from appearing in the chosen project. If this is your first blocking rule for the project, you must republish the project configuration for the changes to take effect.
